Roosevelt is one of only 11 high schools in the U.S selected in 2005- 2006 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to be an EXCELerator school. Under this grant, we offer the CollegeBoard’s rigorous SpringBoard English and Math curricula to all students. This curricula seeks to “grow” freshmen into an upperclassmen equipped to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Incoming freshmen may also elect to join AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a class that teaches effective study skills and develops each student’s personal responsibility for learning.

Around the nation, students with AVID, SpringBoard, and AP backgrounds have higher college graduation rates than students who have not had these academic opportunities.
